Silver Media Group (SMG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indonesian boxing legend Chris John to develop and produce Dragon’s Dojo, a mobile-first vertical animated mythological action-adventure series inspired by Indonesian folklore.
The project brings together Silver Media Group, Chris John, Indonesian television executive Harun Kurniawan and Koollab Studios as co-production partners.
Dragon’s Dojo will serve as the first chapter of ASERYA, a new interconnected Asian mythology franchise combining real-life icons, young heroes, ancient legends and mythical creatures from across the region. The IP is being conceived as a multi-platform universe spanning animation, comics, games, merchandise and other entertainment experiences.
The wider ASERYA storyline takes place in a world where ancient Asian folklore and forgotten histories are linked by a larger mystery. As mythical creatures begin to emerge in the modern world, heroes from different countries must uncover the forces behind a growing darkness threatening the region.
In Dragon’s Dojo, Chris John appears as an animated version of himself and becomes the founder and mentor of a martial arts school helping young people facing difficult circumstances find direction and purpose. Through martial arts, his students learn courage, discipline and honour, before finding themselves confronting creatures drawn from Indonesian mythology.
“Dragon’s Dojo is the beginning of that journey in Indonesia, combining the legacy of a true champion in Chris John with the power of mythology, action and values-driven storytelling,” said **Chan Gin Kai**, Founder and CEO of Silver Media Group, explaining that ASERYA aims to introduce Asia’s cultural heritage and mythology to a new generation of international audiences.
Chris John said the series reflects values that have shaped his own boxing career, including discipline, respect and courage, while giving younger audiences an opportunity to discover Indonesian mythology through an action-driven story.
Koollab Studios will contribute its experience in technology-driven production workflows, combining creative development with emerging technologies while maintaining the cultural identity of the project.
Dragon’s Dojo is currently in development, with production and release details to be announced at a later stage. Further stories and characters from other Asian countries are also planned as the ASERYA universe expands.
