Talpa Studios has secured the first international adaptation of its entertainment format The Winner Takes It All, with France Télévisions commissioning a local version following the show's successful debut on Dutch broadcaster SBS6. Produced by Satisfaction Group, the French adaptation marks another milestone for Talpa Studios, coming shortly after the format was renewed for a second season in the Netherlands on the back of its strong audience performance.
The series became SBS6's biggest talent show launch in the last five years, averaging a 15.8% market share among viewers aged 25-59 (Live+0), well above the broadcaster's slot average. Five of the season's eight episodes attracted more than one million viewers, while the finale reached a 20% market share in the same demographic, confirming the format's broad appeal and audience engagement.
Alexandra Redde-Amiel, Head of Entertainment and Game Shows at France Télévisions, highlighted the broadcaster's successful partnership with Talpa Studios: "The Floor has been a great success on our channels, and we're excited to introduce another proven Talpa Studios format to French audiences with The Winner Takes It All. The outstanding ratings in the Netherlands have already established the format as the country's leading talent show, and we are confident it will resonate just as strongly with our audiences."
Arthur Essebag, Founder of Satisfaction Group, added: "Our collaboration with Talpa Studios continues to be a great success. We are delighted to be the first country to launch the very first international adaptation of this highly promising format."
Sebastian van Barneveld, Director of Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, said the show's combination of talent and strategy has been key to its success. "We're very proud to see The Winner Takes It All travel to France with such outstanding partners. The format combines outstanding vocal performances with strategic gameplay, while also giving broadcasters the opportunity to bring back familiar and beloved former talent show winners in a fresh, premium entertainment format."
In The Winner Takes It All, 50 singers each occupy a square on a giant LED floor, with every square representing a different hit song. Contestants challenge neighbouring rivals to head-to-head singing duels, with the winner taking over the loser's position while the defeated contestant is immediately eliminated. As the competition progresses, the strongest performers advance to the final, where they compete for the grand prize of €100,000. By blending music competition with tactical decision-making and knockout eliminations, The Winner Takes It All offers a fresh twist on the traditional talent show format, where every performance—and every strategic move—can determine who stays in the game.
