Speaking Dead has been selected for the newly revamped Fantascape section of the 30th edition of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), with tickets for its screenings selling out within five minutes. The action thriller has also been nominated in the International Competition Drama category at the second Italy Global Series Festival (IGSF), where it was selected among 21 finalists from more than 160 submissions representing 34 countries. The series is the only Asian title in this year's final competition lineup.
Created by Lee Kyoung-shic and written by Park Shin-kyu, Speaking Dead follows a forensic scientist who takes extreme measures to reopen the suspicious death of a prosecutor. As a criminal profiler revisits the investigation, hidden motives and buried evidence reveal a wider web of power and corruption. As of June 28, the fantasy revenge drama reached a personal-best 11.1% audience rating in Korea while leading streaming charts across multiple Asian territories. The series ranked No. 1 on Taiwan's friDay Overall Top 10 for 12 consecutive days between June 15 and 27. It also held the top position on Viu's TV Shows chart in Indonesia for 11 straight days and led the same ranking in Thailand for 11 consecutive days from June 16 to 27.
