The International Competition Jury will be responsible for awarding the Golden Lion for Best Film, which will be presented at the closing ceremony on September 12, 2026, at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Venice Lido. Other official prizes include the Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize, Silver Lion for Best Director, Coppa Volpi for Best Actress and Best Actor, the Special Jury Prize, Best Screenplay, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress.
The Venice Film Festival, the oldest film festival in the world, is organised by the Venice Biennale and aims to promote international cinema as art, entertainment and industry, while fostering freedom of expression and cultural dialogue. The programme also includes sections dedicated to film restoration, supporting the preservation and understanding of cinema history.
