Seriencamp Kicks Off in Cologne with ZDFneo’s Back for More World Premiere
Seriencamp Festival has officially opened its 12th edition in Cologne, bringing together around 500 guests from the German and international TV and streaming industries for an exclusive opening night dedicated to series, talent and the future of the audiovisual business.
The event, held in Cologne (June 9-11, 2026), marked the beginning of three days of screenings, industry meetings and discussions, confirming Seriencamp’s position as Germany’s leading festival for series and TV culture and one of the most relevant European meeting points for the scripted industry.

The opening ceremony was attended by Cologne’s Mayor Torsten Burmester and Walid Nakschbandi, Managing Director of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, who welcomed guests together with Seriencamp organizers Malko Solf and Gerhard Maier.

The evening featured the world premiere of Back for More, the new ZDFneo dramedy centred on the comeback of a former fictional boy band. The full cast and creative team attended the red carpet and presented the first episode to an enthusiastic audience.
Another highlight of the night was the presentation of the Deadline German TV Disruptor Award, handed out for the third time by Deadline’s Max Goldbart. This year’s award went to Anke Greifeneder, Vice President of Original Productions GSA at HBO Max, recognized as one of the key figures in German series production.

“Seriencamp embodies what sets North Rhine-Westphalia apart as a media hub: creative excellence, international networking, and the courage to break new ground. Here, extraordinary stories meet the people who develop, produce, and bring them to audiences. With the festival and the new innovation format PLOT NEXT, a space is being created where not only current series are celebrated, but the future of storytelling is also discussed and shaped.” Walid Nakschbandi, Managing Director of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

Taking place from June 9 to 11, Seriencamp Festival will showcase around 20 world and German premieres of national and international series, free of charge for the public. Running alongside the festival, the Seriencamp Conference brings together around 1,000 decision-makers, producers, creatives, broadcasters and streaming executives to discuss market trends, production models and new opportunities for the European series industry.

The 2026 edition is supported by main sponsors Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, with premium partners including WDR, Disney, RTL, ARTE and ZDFneo.
