Radial Entertainment has greenlit 20 new episodes of the long-running true crime series The FBI Files, with production currently underway and Bright North Studios attached as producer. The order follows Radial’s acquisition of the New Dominion Pictures catalog earlier this year and marks one of the first major examples of the company’s strategy to transform library IP into new original productions for global distribution.
According to Radial, the revival is designed to extend the value of one of its best-known unscripted brands while expanding its offering for streaming, FAST, AVOD and digital platforms.
“Radial’s acquisition of the New Dominion Pictures catalog gave us ownership of a deep portfolio of enduring unscripted franchises,” said David Buoymaster, Chief Content Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Radial Entertainment. “Putting THE FBI FILES back into production reflects our broader strategy to invest in the IP we own, expand high-performing brands, and create new value across our global distribution ecosystem – and it’s a start of how we plan to activate this catalog over time.”
"THE FBI FILES built its reputation on what true crime rarely gets right: grounded, case-driven storytelling that audiences have trusted for decades. As we bring the series back into production, we are committed to preserving the DNA and integrity that made the franchise endure,” said Cristina Guggino, Vice President of Originals and Content Partnerships at Radial Entertainment. "In Bright North Studios, we found a partner with deep expertise in FBI subject matter and a genuine respect for what this brand represents. That shared understanding is the foundation of this partnership."
Bright North Studios, backed by RedBird IMI, will produce the series. Shawn Efran, Azadeh DeLeon and Mary Bissel serve as executive producers for Bright North, while Katie Carroll and Cristina Guggino executive produce for Radial. "THE FBI FILES is a legendary title that commands the deepest respect from both law enforcement and viewers, and one that I've personally admired for years. We're thrilled to bring our expertise in telling FBI stories to this relaunch and to partner with Radial in extending a franchise that set the standard for authentic, agent-driven storytelling," said Shawn Efran, CEO and Founder of Bright North Studios.
The New Dominion Pictures acquisition added more than 600 hours of programming to Radial’s library, which now exceeds 70,000 movies and television episodes. Alongside The FBI Files, the catalog includes unscripted franchises such as A Haunting, The New Detectives, FantomWorks and Interpol Investigates.
