France tv distribution has added Meloni Rising to its international distribution lineup, launching worldwide sales for the current affairs documentary at Sunny Side of the Doc, the international documentary market taking place in La Rochelle from June 22 to 24, 2026.

Produced by KM Production, part of Banijay France, Meloni Rising explores the political trajectory, ideological roots and international influence of Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s first female Prime Minister and one of the most prominent figures of the European right. The documentary, originally titled Le Cas Meloni, is written by Anna Bonalume and directed by Anna Bonalume and Jérémy Frey.

The 52-minute film examines the rise of a political leader who has managed to consolidate power in a fragmented and traditionally patriarchal country, while also positioning herself as a key actor on the European and global stage. Through a current affairs and society lens, the documentary investigates the contradictions at the heart of Meloni’s public image: a woman who is seen by some as embodying a new form of female leadership, while critics point to policies and ideological positions that challenge women’s rights and liberal values.

The film also addresses the historical and political influences shaping Meloni’s agenda, including the legacy of Italy’s far-right movements and the extent to which those references continue to inform contemporary political discourse.
