Autentic has acquired more than 20 hours of premium factual programming from French producer Boréales, further expanding its international distribution catalogue. The agreement follows Autentic’s involvement as co-financing partner on The Archipelago (2x52’), Boréales’ upcoming blue-chip natural history documentary currently in production and scheduled for delivery this summer. The two-part project explores tropical island ecosystems around the world and examines how geology has influenced biodiversity across isolated environments.
Under the deal, Autentic will distribute a slate spanning wildlife, science and history genres, including The Sanctuary, Wild France, Man’s Best Friend, focused on the bond between humans and dogs, and First Man, which explores the origins of mankind. Mirjam Strasser, Director of Sales & Distribution at Autentic, said: "We are very pleased to work with the team at Boréales. Their films are a perfect fit for our catalogue and represent high-quality storytelling that resonates with international audiences. We are excited to give these outstanding titles a strong international distribution home."
Led by Emmy-winning producer Fred Fougea, Boréales has built a strong reputation in prime-time natural history and science programming, with productions commissioned by broadcasters including the BBC, NHK, France Télévisions, France 2 and ZDF. Fred Fouega, Head of Boreales, added: “We were seduced by the editorial line and the team at Autentic. With this deal, we are entering now in a strong relationship with this very serious company in which we trust.“
The acquisition strengthens Autentic’s push to grow its premium factual offering for broadcasters and streaming platforms worldwide.
