M6 Group and OpenAI Launch the First Streaming App on the ChatGPT Store
In a landmark move at the intersection of artificial intelligence and digital entertainment, Groupe M6 and OpenAI have announced a strategic partnership to launch the M6+ application on the ChatGPT Store. This initiative marks the first time a streaming platform in France has been integrated directly into a conversational AI ecosystem, signaling a significant shift in how audiences discover and engage with audiovisual content.

At the core of this collaboration is M6+, the free streaming service operated by Groupe M6. Already a major player in the French media landscape, M6+ aggregates content from the group’s broadcast channels—including M6, W9, 6ter, Gulli, Paris Première, and Téva—while also offering thousands of hours of on-demand programming spanning series, films, entertainment, sports, and children’s content.

The integration of M6+ into ChatGPT introduces a fundamentally new user experience: content discovery through natural language conversation. Instead of navigating traditional menus or relying on algorithmic rows, users can now simply express their preferences—moods, genres, actors, or themes—in everyday language. The AI then interprets these inputs and surfaces tailored recommendations, enabling immediate access to relevant programs.
This conversational interface addresses one of the most persistent challenges in the streaming economy: content discoverability. As catalogs expand exponentially, users often struggle to find content aligned with their tastes. By transforming search into dialogue, the M6+ app reduces friction and enhances personalization, effectively bridging the gap between user intent and content availability.

David Larramendy, Chairman of the Executive Board of Groupe M6, emphasized the transformative nature of the initiative:“Transforming search into conversation brings every desire closer to the right program. This is a completely new approach— a first in France for a streaming platform—fully aligned with our Group’s transformation strategy, serving both user experience and content visibility.”

From OpenAI’s perspective, the collaboration demonstrates the expanding role of conversational AI beyond productivity and into entertainment ecosystems. It also underscores the growing relevance of AI platforms as distribution gateways, not merely tools.
