The ninth edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival has officially announced its dates, returning from June 25 to June 28, 2026 in Cagliari and at the prestigious Forte Village Resort. Conceived and directed by Tiziana Rocca, the event has established itself as one of the most distinctive festivals on the European calendar thanks to its unique format, bringing together both cinema and television under one roof.
This year’s edition will once again be organised in collaboration with APA - Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, with the patronage of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Cagliari, the Costa Smeralda Consortium, and with the support of Forte Village.
Speaking about the new edition, Tiziana Rocca said she was proud to celebrate an important milestone that reflects the festival’s continued growth and strength. She described the 2026 event as especially meaningful, promising an edition rich in emotions, major guests and a wide range of titles spanning films, documentaries and television series, many of them set for exclusive premieres.
A key highlight of this year’s festival will be the presence of Clara as official godmother. One of the most exciting young talents in contemporary Italian entertainment, Clara has rapidly emerged as a cross-media star, building success in both music and acting. From the stage of Sanremo Music Festival to the acclaimed TV drama Mare Fuori, she has become a strong voice for a new generation of audiences.
Rocca noted that Clara perfectly embodies the spirit of the festival, which has always celebrated the dialogue between cinema, television, music and younger audiences. She also confirmed that numerous guests will participate in talks and masterclasses with students from schools and universities involved in the Academy Cinema initiative.
The educational side of the festival remains one of its defining pillars. According to Lorenzo Giannuzzi, the partnership with the event has helped turn Sardinia into an international cultural destination while actively nurturing the next generation of Italian and global filmmakers. He emphasised the importance of continuing to invest in training opportunities through universities, workshops and encounters with leading industry figures.
Another confirmed feature of the 2026 edition is the short film competition, Filming Italy Sardegna - In Corto, organised in collaboration with the University of Cagliari and Professor Massimo Arcangeli. The initiative gives young filmmakers the chance to showcase their early work not only in Italy but also internationally.
Winning shorts will be broadcast on Rai Cinema Channel, featured on MyMovies, and introduced to U.S. audiences during Filming Italy – Los Angeles.
