France Télévisions and YouTube have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the broadcaster’s “streaming first” strategy and expanding the reach of its news content across all screens and audiences.
Under the agreement, thousands of hours of programming will be made available online each year, shortly after linear broadcast. The partnership will include the full lineup of national and local news bulletins, as well as flagship daily and weekly current affairs and investigative programs from France Télévisions.
The collaboration will also strengthen editorial curation on YouTube through dedicated channels organized by program and theme, alongside original digital-native content designed to enhance audience engagement.
To address misinformation and manipulated content, YouTube will support the adoption of Likeness ID, its tool for detecting AI-generated content that uses the image or identity of public figures without consent.
The agreement will also allow France Télévisions to better monetize its presence on the platform, with France TV Publicité directly managing advertising inventory on YouTube.
Delphine Ernotte Cunci Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of France Télévisions said: "We are proud of this strategic partnership with France Télévisions and convinced of the perfect complementarity between YouTube and public service broadcasting channels. We are committed to supporting the ambitions of the France Télévisions group by putting our technology at the service of information and the reach of its content".
