Eccho Rights Expands Turkish Drama Footprint with SIC Deal
Eccho Rights has struck a major agreement with Portuguese free-to-air broadcaster SIC, licensing a strong slate of Turkish drama series. The deal includes I Am Mother, My Home My Destiny, A Journey to Belong, Elif and Wounded Birds, significantly boosting SIC’s Turkish content offering. The broadcaster had previously acquired Ay Yapim’s Brave and Beautiful from Eccho Rights in 2024.

The agreement was negotiated by Melis Hamamcıoğlu, Sales Executive for Portugal at Eccho Rights, and comes just ahead of Content Europe in Lisbon (April 21–23).

The lineup features a mix of premium primetime and daily dramas. I Am Mother (Sandık Kokusu), produced by O3 Medya for Show TV, explores themes of motherhood, loss and resilience, starring Özge Özpirinçci and Demet Akbağ. My Home My Destiny (Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir), from OGM Pictures for TV8, is a globally successful drama sold in over 90 territories, centered on identity, belonging and love.

Daily drama phenomenon Elif, produced by Yeşil Yapım, remains one of Turkey’s most internationally successful series since its 2015 launch, while Wounded Birds (Yaralı Kuşlar), from Stellar Yapım for Kanal D, broke new ground as the first Turkish series to secure international pre-sales before its domestic debut. Completing the package is A Journey to Belong (Bizi Birleştiren Hayat), a family saga produced by Royal Pictures for Kanal D and aired daily during the 2024–25 season.

Melis Hamamcıoğlu commented that the deal reflects the growing appetite for Turkish drama among Portuguese audiences, highlighting SIC’s position as the country’s leading broadcaster and the strong momentum of the genre across Europe.
