Content Europe Global Formats Pitch Reveals Eight Finalists for Inaugural Edition
C21 has unveiled the eight finalists for the first-ever Content Europe Global Formats Pitch Competition, set to take place in Lisbon on April 21, in partnership with Talpa Studios. The initiative aims to identify the next globally scalable format, attracting a strong pool of submissions from across the industry. The selected finalists will pitch their concepts live during the event, with the winning project securing a development deal with Talpa Studios. Rather than acquiring the format outright, the company is seeking to collaborate with creators to bring the concept to market.
In addition to development support, the winner will benefit from £20,000 worth of marketing across C21Media’s platforms to boost visibility and pre-sales.

The shortlist reflects a diverse mix of genres, spanning reality, competition, factual entertainment and talent formats, all designed with international adaptability in mind. Among the contenders, Fluent in 40 explores immersive language learning as contestants attempt to master a new language abroad within 40 days. Social experiment and adventure formats are also strongly represented with Fortune$: The Secret Safes and Six Degrees of Connection, both built around navigating real-world social networks without access to money or technology.
In the entertainment space, Gimme the Beat! offers a fresh take on talent shows by removing music tracks entirely, focusing instead on raw performance and charisma, while The Money Tree delivers a high-stakes studio quiz driven by risk, timing and strategy.

Factual and reality storytelling also play a key role, with Inside Joke blending stand-up comedy with immersive community experiences, and The Get Together centring on emotional reconnection between loved ones through shared experiences.
Completing the lineup, The Freeze transforms the classic “hotter or colder” game into a large-scale, real-world competition where contestants hunt for a hidden cash prize under increasing pressure.
The competition forms part of Content Europe’s broader ambition to position itself as a key marketplace for new ideas and international partnerships, with the live pitch session expected to be a highlight of the event.
