The Berlin International Film Festival continues to reinforce its position as one of the most influential events in the global audiovisual calendar, closing its 76th edition on February 22, 2026 with record-breaking attendance and strong industry engagement. The festival reported a total of 343,200 tickets sold, surpassing even the previous year’s milestone (340,000 in 2025), confirming the Berlinale’s unique ability to combine public appeal with industry relevance.
This year’s programme featured 278 films from 80 countries, reflecting the festival’s commitment to diversity and international storytelling, while audience reception and critical response remained overwhelmingly positive.
Beyond public attendance, the Berlinale’s industrial dimension continues to expand. Approximately 19,500 industry professionals from 135 countries participated in the 2026 edition, including 2,288 accredited journalists.
