Big Media Licenses Original Documentary Leviathan: Whale and Man To Earthx
BIG Media has licensed its original documentary "Leviathan: Whale and Man" (1x90’) to the US-based conservation and sustainability-focused channel EarthX. The film, which explores the evolving relationship between whales, humanity, and the world’s oceans, is set to make its North American debut on Earth Day, April 22, across EarthX’s cable and FAST channels.

Directed by Steve Lichtag, Leviathan combines marine science and historical perspective to investigate phenomena such as rare whale sightings, mass strandings, and predator-prey interactions. The documentary traces humanity’s fascination with whales from ancient mythology to modern conservation movements, questioning how environmental policies and scientific understanding intersect in the protection of marine ecosystems.

Regarding the deal, Danny Wilk, president and co-founder of BIG Media, stated: “'LEVIATHAN' arrives at a moment when the health of our oceans and the role of large marine species within fragile ecosystems are being widely examined and debated. This documentary combines rigorous scientific inquiry with striking cinematography to explore the evolving relationship between humans and whales within the broader marine environment. EarthX has built a strong reputation for presenting thoughtful, high-quality environmental programming, making it the ideal home for a film that raises timely and important questions about conservation, science, and the future of our oceans.”

Ross Mason, Vice President of Content for EarthX Media, Inc., added: “We are pleased to add 'LEVIATHAN' to our lineup of entertaining factual programming which celebrates the beauty and awesome wonder of our planet. As a powerful documentary on whale conservation and the complex relationship humanity has with our oceans, we are thrilled for its premiere during our Earth Week celebrations as The Official Network of Earth Day™."
