Banijay Entertainment has secured the first international deal for its culinary competition format "100 Knives", with a Danish adaptation commissioned by TV 2 Denmark and produced by Metronome, part of Banijay Nordic.
The order marks the next step in the format’s international rollout following the original Swedish commission for Mastiff Sweden from TV4. The Danish version will be filmed on the established set in Stockholm and is set to premiere this autumn on TV 2 Denmark.
Co-developed with Bunim/Murray Productions, part of Banijay Americas, and Smart Dog Media, "100 Knives" brings together 100 chefs in a high-pressure competition where teamwork, speed and precision determine who stays in the kitchen. The format features contestants ranging from Michelin-starred chefs to food content creators and aspiring culinary talents.
Tina Christensen, Managing Director of Metronome, said: “'100 Knives' is a high-intensity format that pushes contestants to deliver at an exceptional level. Its scope, energy and emotional drive set it apart, while the calibre of talent brings genuine culinary excellence to every challenge. Delivering the first international version has been a major creative opportunity.”
Thomas Richardt Strøbech, Channel Controller at TV 2 Denmark, added: “With its huge cast, fierce eliminations, wild twists and emphasis on teamwork, '100 Knives' brings together the best elements of reality television. The contestants’ passion for their craft is unmistakable as they make fast, pressure-cooker decisions with absolute precision.”
James Townley, Chief Content Officer, Development at Banijay Entertainment, noted that the early international interest highlights the format’s global potential. “The swift international uptake of '100 Knives' reflects the growing demand for premium, emotionally driven formats that deliver scale and ambition.”
