The concept is clear from the title: inspired by popular CAPTCHA tests used to verify whether a user is human, the programme produced by RTVE in collaboration with Thinketers transfers this concept to television entertainment. Set against a backdrop of technology, it combines information, humour and general knowledge in a fast-paced, visual format.
Four contestants face seven tests designed to put their ingenuity, creativity and mental agility to the test, with one clear goal: to prove that they are human. The twist comes during the eliminations: each time someone is eliminated, they must press the ‘Verify’ button in the centre of the set. Thanks to artificial intelligence tool, the audience then sees them transform into a robot. Only one contestant will reach the final, where they will play for a jackpot that can accumulate to €10,000 in an ‘all or nothing’ game.
In more detail, in the first phase, contestants will compete for the ‘I’ll Start’ wildcard in the ‘Famous Captcha’ challenge. They will have to guess which famous person will be the guest, based on nine images related to that person. TU CAPTCHA is an individual game inspired by each participant’s life, hobbies or profession. CÓDIGO CAPTCHA is the first elimination game, testing contestants’ speed and ability to associate concepts. Finally, RETO CAPTCHA is a group challenge in which contestants take turns to solve a CAPTCHA and accumulate money.
Next, the remaining three contestants face ‘CAPTCHA STORIES’, a test consisting of general knowledge questions based on videos generated using artificial intelligence. Historical or fictional characters introduce each challenge. In ‘CAPTCHA ENREDADO’, the contestants’ mental agility is tested with distorted words in the style of classic CAPTCHAs. Finally, the ‘CAPTCHA FINAL’ determines the winner with an all-or-nothing test in which the finalists risk their entire accumulated pot without knowing how many correct answers are on the panel.
The format, which will be broadcast every Wednesday for ten episodes, expands its universe beyond the set with a series of video podcasts on En Play, the recently launched digital streaming channel within RTVE Play offering more than eight hours of live broadcasting per day, Monday to Thursday. The development of digital skills will be explored in depth in these podcasts.
