International formats consultancy The Format People (TFP) and UK-based production company TellTale Industries have inked a new strategic alliance to co-develop audio initiatives that build on each other’s strengths. The new collaboration will see the two companies create, develop, and produce new unscripted formats initially for the UK radio, podcast and vizpod market with a view to extending content into North America.
The first joint commission for the BBC is already in pre-production. For this initial collaboration, TellTale and The Format People have taken over production of the BBC’s legendary radio format "Brain of Britain", one of the world’s longest-running quizzes, with highly experienced question and games guru David Bodycombe as Series Producer.
“TellTale Industries produce eye-catching audio-first stories with a focus on authenticity as well as entertainment and a commit to develop the IP across TV and other platforms, which aligns perfectly with our world view,” says The Format People’s Justin Scroggie.
“The Format People bring original cleverly simple ideas and meticulous development to the table, as well as David’s quiz and games expertise and Justin’s considerable experience and contacts in the international formats marketplace,” says Telltale’s CEO Jago Lee.
The Format People’s output includes hit culinary format "Chef in Your Ear", produced in 13 territories to date, while TellTale Industries' recent hits include "Educating Daisy" and "Future Tense" for Audible, and investigative thriller "Word of God" for BBC Radio 4 / Sounds.
