The Kitchen Marks 25 Years As A Global Language Services Leader
The Kitchen is celebrating its 25th anniversary as one of the industry’s leading language service providers, marking a journey that began in 2001 in a small townhouse on Miami Beach and has since evolved into a global operation. Today, the company operates from a five-floor facility in Miami’s Wynwood arts district, featuring 17 dubbing suites and working with hundreds of voice talents, translators, adaptors and related professionals, serving a wide roster of international clients.

The milestone coincides with the company entering its 25th year in business. "We are celebrating our team, our colleagues and our clients, for their continued faith and on-going, unwavering support in all we do,” said Ken Lorber, Founding Partner, President and CEO.

In its early years, The Kitchen — together with its then parent company TM Systems — received two Primetime Emmy Awards for the creation and implementation of the industry’s first “end to end” suite of language software tools. The technology was not only used internally, but was soon adopted by language service providers across Los Angeles, Mexico, Argentina and Europe. “That gave us a leg-up on our competition back then, and we continue to retain that type of out-of-the-box attitude with all we do,” Lorber added. “The idea to submit our translation, dubbing, subtitling and QC software to the Emmys was that type of thinking. Never before had a language company even been considered for the Emmy nod. Why not, has always been our motto.”

The company later received the National Association of Broadcasters’ AIM Award for Achievement in Media. “While the software was a success in 2002, and several years following, we have since embraced newer and more advanced technologies. The Emmy Winning moniker and our unique vision 25 years ago however, will always be a part of our story!”

A global family

What started with just three people has grown into a large-scale international operation serving major clients including NBCUniversal, Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, Fox, Mattel, ITV, BBC, Hallmark, Sony Pictures Entertainment, ZDF and many others.

The Kitchen expanded its international footprint in 2015 with the launch of The Kitchen EMEA, followed by additional locations around the world, significantly enhancing its language and service capabilities. In 2023, the company opened its first European language hub and playout center in Madrid, Spain, enabling near 24/7 global availability.

Further strengthening its global structure, The Kitchen introduced its first Board of Global Influencers in 2024, bringing together respected industry leaders from every continent to advise executive teams with their specialized expertise.

The Kitchen London serves as the company’s European sales office, led by Director of Global Sales Liz Clarke. Deeny Kaplan, Founding Partner and Chief Marketing Officer, oversees global brand recognition and sales strategy. Josh Pine joined the company in April 2025 as CFO and COO, while Eutdel Garcia serves as VP Technology and Facilities. Max Wynen, based in Madrid, holds the role of VP Global Operations.

Looking ahead
As it looks toward the future, The Kitchen anticipates continued growth, innovation and technological advancement. “The opportunities for the expansion of our core services are endless. The industry breakthroughs that have taken place between 2001 and today, have proven our theory as a global language provider to be right on. We must change as the industry changes. We must grow as the industry grows. We must embrace change as the industry embraces those changes,” Lorber explained.

He added: “Clients rely on The Kitchen to take them to the next level: to provide tested, new technology that will enhance their current and future needs. That is what always has led us to the next level as a trusted language service provider.”

Looking ahead to 2026, the company expects a year of expansion and new beginnings, including the launch of its first Los Angeles-based offices and studio facilities to serve major studios and global distributors. “While the past 25 years have been exciting, unpredictable, challenging and most of all—fun---we know that 2026 is going to be a blockbuster for our Kitchen family,” Lorber concluded.
