Sky has rolled out the official trailer for its forthcoming Sky Original series “Gomorrah – The Origins”, the much-awaited six-part prequel produced by Sky Studios and Cattleya, part of ITV Studios, broadening the acclaimed Sky Original crime universe inspired by Roberto Saviano’s bestselling novel. The series is scheduled to debut in early 2026 on Sky and the streaming platform NOW.
Set in Naples in 1977, the new series unfolds the backstory behind the early criminal formation of a very young Pietro Savastano. It recounts where everything started—how the future crime boss steps into the underworld amid a transforming city: impoverished, rough, defined by cigarette trafficking and on the verge of the heroin boom. “Gomorrah – The Origins” provides a new outlook on the rise of Pietro’s authority, portraying a period that shaped the evolution of contemporary organized crime.
The series is directed by Marco D’Amore, who leads the first four episodes while also serving as co-writer and artistic supervisor. Francesco Ghiaccio directs the final two episodes. The project was created by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli, and Roberto Saviano, and will be distributed internationally by Beta Film.
The cast features Luca Lubrano as the youthful and driven Pietro Savastano; Francesco Pellegrino (La Santa Piccola) as Angelo 'A Sirena', a hesitant criminal burdened by an inherited destiny; Flavio Furno (Il Candidato) as 'O Paisano', an inmate gathering supporters for a new vision of the Camorra; Tullia Venezia as young Imma, a talented musician with aspirations far beyond Naples; and Fabiola Balestriere (Veleno) as Annalisa Magliocca—Scianel before her rise—portrayed as a young mother trapped under the control of her violent husband. The ensemble also includes Antonio Buono, Ciro Burzo, Luigi Cardone, Antonio Del Duca, Mattia Francesco Cozzolino, Junior Rancel Rodriguez Arcia, and Antonio Incalza.
“The prequel Gomorrah – The Origins” is based on the bestseller “Gomorra” written by Roberto Saviano, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. The bible and the outlines are written by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Roberto Saviano, the screenplays are written by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Marco D’Amore.
