After four seasons on Mediaset (Italia 1), Love Bugs returns with a new edition on TV 8 on November 24.
At the center of this contemporary iteration is a brand-new duo: Brenda Lodigiani and Michele Rosiello. Together they form a lively, dynamic, and remarkably well-tuned couple whose routine is constantly shaken up with humor, mischief, and unabashed intimacy.
The narrative structure relies on short, fast-paced sketches, an immediate comedic tone, and a rhythm designed for today’s fragmented viewing habits. The couple confronts the relationship challenges of a generation shaped by digital dependency, where smartphones are practically an extension of the hand—and, in many ways, an ever-present “third wheel” in their love story.
After becoming a ratings phenomenon in the early 2000s, Love Bugs returns to a dramatically transformed social landscape—one dominated by smartphones, social platforms, shared (or secretly binged) series, and the pressures of hyper-connected life. Still, the core “bugs” of love remain comfortingly familiar: jealousy, misunderstandings, clashes with in-laws. This reboot captures it all with lightness, sharp humor, and emotional warmth. Because love—even as it evolves—remains the most universally comic and tender subject there is. And Brenda and Michele are the ideal couple to bring these evolutions to life.
The series is produced by Blu Yazmine. Creative supervision is by Ivan Cotroneo. Direction is by Cotroneo and Michele Rho. Scripts are written by Massimo Chiellini with Andrea Camerini, Andrea De Marinis, Matteo Levati, and Marianna Stefanucci.
Originally created by Guy A. Lepage and distributed by Avanti, Love Bugs holds a unique record: with 39 different versions worldwide, it is the most adapted scripted format in the history of television.
