The volume is divided into two flavorful sections. The first, sharing the book’s title, is a deep dive into the history of cooking shows on Italian television, tracing the genre from Mario Soldati’s Viaggio nella valle del Po alla ricerca dei cibi genuini (1957) to today’s popular formats.
The second half, Ricette d’autore, collects signature dishes from friends and colleagues in the TV world — both in front of and behind the camera. Each recipe has been reimagined by chef Fabrizio Damiano Casali and captured in photos by Giulia Godeassi, with a gourmet preface by Laura Marsadri and a playful poem by Contessa Pinina Garavaglia.
Among the contributors are well-known figures such as Roberto Alessi, Lorenzo Arrigoni, Annamaria Bernardini de Pace, Edmondo Conti, Elisa D’Ospina, Duccio Forzano, Tessa Gelisio, Giovanni Macrì, Rosalba Piccinni, Santo Pirrotta, Enza Sampò, and Massimo Scaglioni.
