Renowned Swedish author Camilla Läckberg, one of the most widely read and acclaimed crime writers in the world, recently visited Piombino to attend the filming of Erica, the upcoming Italian TV series set to air soon on Canale 5, starring Vanessa Incontrada.
This highly anticipated fiction series — a co-production between RTI and 7Verticale, directed by Ciro D’Emilio — is the Italian adaptation of the hit Franco-Belgian show Erica, originally broadcast on TF1. The series is based on the early novels in Läckberg’s celebrated saga featuring Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström. Upon its debut in France, Erica drew nearly 4 million viewers and earned over 22% audience share, confirming the international appeal and storytelling power of Läckberg’s narratives.
With over 40 million copies sold in more than 60 countries, Camilla Läckberg has earned the title of “Queen of Nordic Noir.” Her literary career has garnered multiple accolades, including the prestigious Grand Prix de Littérature Policière for her debut novel The Ice Princess. The book, which introduced readers to Erica Falck, was selected by Time Magazine in 2023 as one of the "100 Best Thriller and Mystery Books of All Time." In 2012, Läckberg was also named “Woman of the Year” in Sweden.
Her stories have inspired numerous screen adaptations, ranging from Swedish productions to more recent international collaborations.
In the Italian adaptation, Vanessa Incontrada plays a mystery writer facing creative burnout. Returning to her hometown of Piombino, she finds herself unexpectedly drawn into a murder investigation. Co-starring alongside her is Francesco Scianna, who portrays Leonardo, a charming and determined police officer. Together, they join forces to unravel a web of crimes and long-buried secrets.
