Atresmedia’s original series continues to conquer the world. Joining the long list of shows that have achieved great global success after airing on Atresplayer Spain and Antena 3 is "Ángela", the acclaimed psychological thriller that earned unanimous praise from critics and audiences alike in Spain and now stands as the biggest international television phenomenon of the moment.
The series, which already made a strong impact over the summer in Latin American countries and Brazil, has only been available on international platforms for a few days, yet it has already become the most-watched non-English language series in more than ten countries, including Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, and Switzerland.
Moreover, "Ángela" is expanding its success to countries like the United States, Canada, Bahamas, Jamaica, and United Kingdom, where it already ranks within the top 10 most-watched non-English language series at the moment. In other regions such as Germany, Croatia, Sweden, Slovenia, Norway, and Iceland, it is just one step away from reaching the number one position in the rankings, with an unstoppable rise in the weekly charts of most-watched series.
"Ángela" is the Spanish adaptation of the successful British series "Angela Black" (originally aired in 2021 on ITV). It stars Verónica Sánchez, who received the prestigious Cygnus Award for Best Actress for her role in the series. Alongside her, Daniel Grao, Jaime Zatarain, and Lucía Jiménez lead the main cast, which also includes Ane
Gabarain, María Isabel Díaz Lago, Iván Marcos, and child actresses Maia Zaitegui and Sua Díez, among others.
Atresmedia Sales is the international distributor of ‘Ángela’ and will be present at the upcoming edition of MIPCOM in Cannes with its own new stand, R7.J1, strengthening its position as a major global audiovisual distributor.
