Harry King
Television is preparing a new animated TV show as part of its forthcoming True
Sherlock universe, inspired by Nicholas Sercombe’s original literary saga The
Unexpurgated Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, yet clearly set apart from the
live-action format.
Heading the
creative lineup alongside Nicholas Sercombe (CEO of Harry King Television) are
David Lipman (Shrek), Michael Ryan (Planet 51), and Tim John (A Street Cat
Named Bob).
Animated
Sherlock (working title) expands on Sercombe’s behind-the-scenes concept by
shaping a tone aimed specifically at an adult demographic. Each season follows
a central whodunit storyline, while individual episodes connect to an original
Sherlock Holmes tale within Arthur Conan Doyle’s canon. Much like True
Sherlock, the show will examine the beginnings of Holmes, Watson, Mrs. Hudson,
and Moriarty, though with a daring reinterpretation of each character intended
to engage modern adult audiences around the globe.
Nicholas
Sercombe, CEO of Harry King Television and Producer of True Sherlock, stated:
“Exploring the animated format lets us re-envision Sherlock Holmes on a
broader, more inventive, and even audacious scale than ever before. Having
David, Michael, and Tim guiding the project unites their expertise in animation
with this treasured classic property. Together we’re constructing a unique
Sherlock Holmes world that feels at once enduring and brand new—full of
personality, wit, and adventure. We’re eager for Animated Sherlock (wt) to
astonish viewers everywhere and breathe fresh vitality into one of literature’s
most iconic figures.”
