My Brilliant Friend Sold to OGM Pictures for a Remake in Turkey
Wildside, The Apartment, Fremantle, and Fandango announced the first scripted format adaptation of the internationally acclaimed drama My Brilliant Friend.The series based on Elena Ferrante’s bestselling novels will be adapted by OGM Pictures in Türkiye and is scheduled to begin production later this year.
Based on the global bestselling quadrilogy by Elena Ferrante and published in the US by Europa Editions, My Brilliant Friend is an utterly sumptuous adaptation based around an enduring female friendship. When the most important friend in her life seems to disappear without trace, Elena Greco, an elderly woman living in a house crammed with books, switches on her PC and starts writing her own story, and that of Lila. She tells the tale of their friendship, which started at school in the 1950s.

HBO and RAI previously adapted the internationally adored novels for screen in 2018, with the final instalment of the Neapolitan drama launching to huge acclaim in November 2024. The series was ranked among the '50 Best TV Dramas of All Time' by The Daily Telegraph, hailed as ‘revolutionary’ by The Guardian, while The New York Times praised it as ‘one of the best portraits of a lifelong relationship ever made’.
The HBO-RAI series went on to capture the hearts of audiences worldwide, with Fremantle placing it in over 170 territories. In Türkiye, My Brilliant Friend launched on several broadcasters - Digiturk, Tabii, Turkcell TV+ and Puhu TV.
My Brilliant Friend was created by Saverio Costanzo and based on the bestselling novels by Elena Ferrante. An Apartment, Fremantle Italy, Wildside and Fandango production, it was produced by Lorenzo Mieli, The Apartment and Wildside (both Fremantle companies) and by Domenico Procacci for Fandango, in collaboration with RAI Fiction and HBO Entertainment.
