During the AVP Summit held in Merano (Kurhaus, 21-23 July, 2025), we met with Nicola Serra, CEO of Palomar, who shared updates on the company’s most recent productions. Speaking with Formatbiz (watch the full video interview on Instagram), Serra highlighted what he described as a “peak moment” for Italian production. Among the most anticipated projects is Duse, Palomar’s latest film, which will premiere in competition at the upcoming Venice Film Festival (August 27-September9, 2025). However, Serra emphasized that the company’s activity goes far beyond the festival circuit: “We currently have several major productions underway in Sicily,” he said. “From Vanina for Mediaset, to Call My Agent – Italia for Sky, as well as a new film by Antonio Albanese. We’re also filming the second season of The Story of My Family, a Netflix original.”
Serra reiterated that Palomar’s editorial strategy is rooted in strong IP—mainly literary adaptations and high-end scripted formats. “We’re working on stories based on important novels,” he noted, “but also on international scripted formats such as Dix pour cent (the original French Call My Agent), which we’ve adapted for Sky.” Palomar, one of Italy’s most influential production houses, continues to combine artistic depth with wide audience appeal, moving between prestigious cinema and mainstream TV drama.
