At the 55th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, taking place in Giffoni Valle Piana, Mediafriends will present Ho preso un granchio on Saturday, July 19. This special screening aligns with the festival’s overarching theme for 2025, Becoming Human, an invitation to reflect on the meaning of humanity in the modern world—a continuous journey of growth and transformation. The series perfectly embodies this concept, as it invites viewers to see cancer through a different lens: one shaped by the voices of young patients themselves, who, through personal stories, share their vulnerabilities while tackling the illness with courage and a smile.
Ho preso un granchio is a web series created by the Progetto Giovani of the National Cancer Institute of Milan. It is promoted by Mediafriends—Mediaset’s philanthropic organization supported by Mondadori and Medusa, chaired by Pier Silvio Berlusconi—and produced by Fondazione Bianca Garavaglia ETS. The series is the brainchild of Professor Andrea Ferrari and features 25 adolescents and young adults undergoing cancer treatment. Across seven episodes, conceived, written, and performed by the young patients themselves, the series authentically and ironically portrays life inside the hospital.
Premiered last April at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, Ho preso un granchio has been recognized by SIOP Europe (the European Society for Paediatric Oncology) as an important supportive therapy for young cancer patients and a significant step toward raising public awareness about the condition and care pathways for adolescents and young adults with cancer.

The second season of Ho preso un granchio is scheduled to air this fall on Mediaset channels and Mediaset Infinity.
