Le Libere Donne Take the Spotlight: Stories of Strength and Identity at the Italian Global Series Festival
The second day of the Italian Global Series Festival, held on Sunday, June 22, unfolded under the banner of great television storytelling.
The morning began at the Cinema Fulgor in Rimini, with a series of presentations featuring new productions from Italy and abroad. Among the titles introduced were I Cesaroni and Hype, two shows that had already made a strong impact during the festival’s opening night, alongside Maria: The Unknown Callas, a Greek series focused on the youth of the legendary soprano Maria Callas, offering a fresh and intimate portrait of the woman behind the icon.

Following this, the festival hosted the exclusive preview of Le libere donne, a new Rai miniseries directed by Michele Soavi. Set in 1940s Tuscany, the series explores themes of resilience and emancipation through the stories of women who defied societal expectations. The screening was enriched by the presence of the director himself and key cast members, including Lino Guanciale (connected online), Grace Kicaj, and Fabrizio Biggio, who engaged with the audience to discuss the project’s creative journey and historical relevance.

Day two confirmed the festival’s mission to serve as an international platform for both reflection and discovery—honoring the power of serial storytelling to inspire, inform, and connect across generations and cultures.
