MIFA 2025 - A New Season For Edmond And Lucy With A Format Designed To aBoost Event Programming And Strengthen The IP
During its press conference at the Annecy International Animation Festival, France Télévisions announced the greenlight of Season 2 of Edmond And Lucy, the preschool series produced by MIAM! animation.

The new season comes with a new format: 44 x 11-minute episodes and 4 x 22-minute seasonal specials, strategically scheduled to mark the start of each school holiday. The second season will launch in December 2026 with a festive 22-minute Christmas special broadcast on France Télévisions.

Backed by the success of its first season, which premiered in 2022, Edmond And Lucy has become a strong performer in the preschool landscape. Airing daily on France 5 and streaming on Okoo, the show has built a wide and loyal audience in France. Internationally, it has achieved remarkable reach, airing in over 150 territories and dubbed into 24 languages. In 2023, it received the Unifrance Export Award, recognizing it as the most exported French animated series of the year. The brand also successfully expanded into cinemas, with Edmond And Lucy’s Wonderful Winter, a mid-length feature that drew over 135,000 moviegoers in France.

Edmond And Lucy further expands the IP ecosystem with new cross-platform content. A second season of the immersive podcast is already available on Okoo, offering five 7-minute audio episodes that invite children to explore the forest by night and discover the animals that live there. Educational mini-series Edmond And Lucy+ will also return to Lumni with 13 new 3-minute episodes, designed to explain key concepts of the natural world in a playful and accessible way, fostering curiosity and respect for living things.

“We’re proud to be building a long-term IP in close partnership with France Télévisions, with a shared editorial and strategic vision that puts young audiences first,” said Hanna Mouchez, CEO and Executive Producer at MIAM! animation. “For this new season, we’ve chosen to shift the storytelling focus and spotlight the sibling bond between our two main characters. Raised by their caring and playful single father, Harry, Edmond and Lucy navigate daily adventures that explore family dynamics, friendship, and growing up together, resonating closely with Okoo’s editorial values.”

Pierre Siracusa, Head of Youth and Education at France Télévisions, added: "With this second season of Edmond And Lucy, we have the chance to dive deeper into the everyday world of our two young heroes—something that really resonates with our audience. Preschoolers are naturally curious about what makes a family: the bonds that shape us, support us, and sometimes challenge us. The series explores these themes with joy and wonder, through a wide range of emotions, a great group of friends, a lovable bear dad, a wise grandmother, and plenty of surprises along the way. Apoutch!"

The forest remains a central immersive element in the series, a playground for exploration that evolves with the seasons. This immersive quality is supported using real-time 3D technology, adopted by MIAM! studio from Season 1 onwards for its artistic strengths and energy efficiency. Season 1 and all associated content were delivered with a carbon footprint of 158 tonnes of CO₂.

Season 2 of Edmond And Lucy (44 x 11’ + 4 x 22’) is produced in real-time 3D by MIAM! animation, directed by François Narboux, and based on the book series Edmond et ses amis published by Nathan, written by Astrid Desbordes and illustrated by Marc Boutavant. MIAM! distribution handles international sales.
