The third edition of SERIESMAKERS, the initiative by Series Mania Forum and Beta Group, has revealed the ten selected projects. Designed for feature film directors transitioning into series, the program provides tailored mentorship from industry leaders.
On March 26, during Series Mania Forum (March 25–27), the winning team will receive the Beta & Kirch Foundation Award (€50,000) and collaborate with Beta’s Content & Co-Production Division on a pilot script and full package.
The selected projects include:
A Person of Interest (Ireland, crime/thriller) – Michael Kinirons & Fergal Rock
Cow’s Tongue (Brazil, crime/thriller) – Aly Muritiba & Marc Bechar
Death Becomes Him (Nigeria, dark comedy/fantasy) – Joseph A. Adesunloye & Gabriel Winter
Falke Motors (Denmark, crime/drama) – Jens Dahl & Anders N.U. Berg
Le Bouton D’Or (Finland, drama/comedy) – Mika Kaurismäki, Anastasia Pashkevich & Anna Andersson
Pigs’ Disco (UK, drama/biopic) – Joseph Bull & Luke Seomore
Stick’em Up (Iceland, dramedy/biopic) – Gísli Örn Garðarsson & Björn Hlynur Haraldsson
The Interregnum (Spain, political thriller) – Simón Casal & Mariela Besuievsky
The Wonderful Golem (UK, drama/fantasy) – Ofir Raul Graizer & David C. Barrot
Unequal (Brazil, thriller/heist/drama) – Carolina Jabor & Claudia Jouvin
Industry mentors include Janine Jackowski (Toni Erdmann), Ronit Weiss-Berkowitz (The Girl from Oslo), Isabelle Lindberg Pechou (Trom), and Felipe Braga (Sintonia). The event will feature speakers such as Christian Schwochow (The Crown), Quoc Dang Tran (Drops of God), and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files).
The creative initiative SERIESMAKERS is headed by Laurence Herszberg, General Director of Series Mania, and Ferdinand Dohna, Head of Content & Co-Production of Beta. SERIESMAKERS was initiated by Laurence Herszberg and Koby Gal Raday, CEO Janeiro Studios, and was first launched in 2022.
