As this year marks 50 years since Peret's performance at Eurovision, the first "biopic" about the life of one of the great references of Catalan rumba arrives. The movie "El Rey Peret", based on his memoirs, traces his life from his youth to his performance at the closing of the 1992 Olympic Games, delving into the most private aspect of his life, revealing the constant opposition from his family, the Francoist pressures he was subjected to, or how he ended up working as a pastor in the evangelical church. Jordi Coll (young Peret) and Pep Antón Muñoz (older Peret) portray the artist in two different stages of his life, just as Asia Ortega (young Santa) and Marta Tomasa (older Santa) do. The cast is completed by Toni Sevilla, Alba Brunet, Pepa López, Alba Brunet, and Jordi Planas, among others.

"We are very pleased with the reception the film received, not only from the press and the general public but above all from Peret's family, who have accompanied us throughout this journey to tell his life," says Alexandre Bas, executive producer of "El Rey Peret".

The film, a co-production of NewCo Audiovisual (iZen Group) with 3Cat, in association with RTVE and with the support of ICEC, and directed by Esteve Rovira and created by Manel Bonany, will be broadcast soon by RTVE and 3Cat.
