Sky Original prison drama The King is back with season two next April
The King of San Michele Prison returns with a second season of The King on April exclusively on Sky and NOW.
Luca Zingaretti is back as the director of the prison with 8 episodes.
The series is produced by Sky Studios with Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment and Wildside, both companies within the Fremantle group, in collaboration with Zocotoco. Written by Peppe Fiore, Alessandro Fabbri, and Federico Gnesini. The beloved Roman actor once again takes on the role of Bruno Testori, the warden of a border prison who, by the end of the first season, becomes a prisoner of his own kingdom, San Michele.

Alongside Luca Zingaretti (Inspector Montalbano, Wild Blood, No Activity - Nothing to Report) return Isabella Ragonese (Like Sheep Among Wolves, Yara, Italy's Father), reprising her role as Sonia Massini, now the commander of the prison guards at San Michele, Anna Bonaiuto (To Fly, Loro, My Brother is an Only Child) once again as the prosecutor investigating the network of illegalities and connivances that lead back to Testori, Laura Lombardo, who in the new season will be "promoted and transferred" to another court precisely because of him, and Barbora Bobulova (The Sun in Your Eyes, Shout, Born for You), who in the new episodes will once again play the ex-wife of Zingaretti's character, an agent in the cybersecurity department. Also returning is Alida Baldari Calabria (Pinocchio, Shout, That Dirty Black Bag), playing Bruno's very young daughter, as well as the "pretorians" of San Michele: Alessandro Gazale (Insomnia, All Dogs Die Alone), Antonio Gargiulo (Gomorrah - The Series, On My Skin), Paolo D. Bovani (All at My House, Leonardo, Beautiful to Die), Salvatore D'Onofrio (Capri Revolution, Certain Children), and Federico Pasquali (The Divine Ponytail, I Am the Abyss, Love).

Newcomers to the cast this season include Fabrizio Ferracane (The Sworn Virgin, The Bad Guy, Airlock) as Gregorio Verna, head of the secret services, Thomas Trabacchi (Nico, 1988, The Beast in the Heart, Studio Battaglia) as a magistrate detained at San Michele, Vittorio Mancuso, Caterina Shulha (The Man in the Maze, Insomnia, Blame Freud - The Series) who will be Claudia Agosti, Mancuso's lawyer, and Stefano Dionisi (Three Floors, The Great Game, The Blood of the Vanquished) as a prisoner in the prison who will soon become Testori's friend.
