Primitives Takes The Last Laugh, Terrain: Battle of the Flags and Mission Accomplished to Cannes
Primitives is heading to MIPCOM Cannes 2026 with a new slate spanning adventure reality, factual entertainment and comedy, led by three original formats from Germany and Belgium.

Among the highlights is Terrain: Battle of the Flags, a gaming-inspired adventure reality competition produced by Roses are Blue Germany for ZDF. The 10x30’ series premieres in Germany on September 24, 2026. Set in a vast purpose-built game world in the Scottish Highlands, the format sees ten content creators divided into two rival teams, each tasked with defending their village and flags while launching strategic raids into enemy territory.
Players who lose two flags become NPCs — Non-Playable Characters — and are sidelined from the competition until their totem is restored. Along the way, challenges allow the teams to earn coins that can be spent on equipment, tools and strategic advantages. With flags constantly changing hands, alliances, tactics and strategies must evolve throughout the game. After four days, the team holding the highest number of captured flags is declared the winner.
Blending the visual language and mechanics of gaming with a large-scale real-world competition, Terrain: Battle of the Flags is designed to appeal particularly to younger audiences familiar with multiplayer and online gaming culture.

Also joining the MIPCOM slate is Belgian factual format The Last Laugh, produced by Woestijnvis for VRT1. The 5x50’ series is scheduled to premiere on October 29, 2026. The format follows people living with a terminal diagnosis who invite a comedian to create a deeply personal — and humorous — portrait of their life.
Through conversations with the participant, family members and friends, the comedian discovers the stories, memories, habits and personality traits that defined them, ultimately transforming this material into a unique comedic eulogy. The performance is first presented privately to the participant. Following their death, the comedian returns to perform the eulogy at the funeral, combining humour and emotion in an unconventional celebration of life.

Completing the line-up is Mission Accomplished, an 8x60’ comedy game show also produced by Woestijnvis for VRT1, which premiered on September 6, 2026.
The format challenges eight celebrities with a series of secret, often absurd missions designed to take them well outside their comfort zones. Each participant receives a major “Mission of the Year”, alongside a new challenge every week, creating an ongoing narrative across the season. The action culminates in the studio, where the celebrities must present their claims, question one another and attempt to work out who successfully completed their mission — and who is bluffing. Only when the footage is finally revealed does the truth emerge, turning the format into a mix of hidden-camera comedy, celebrity competition and studio guessing game.
