Norse Key Studios Launches European Sales of Kyrgyzstan’s Oscar Entry Kassandra at Venice
Finnish sales company Norse Key Studios has launched European sales of Kassandra, the mystical ethno-horror feature selected as Kyrgyzstan’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

The film is being presented to international buyers during the Venice Film Festival, where Norse Key Studios is introducing Kassandra to European cinema distributors , broadcasters and streamers.

Set in a remote Kyrgyz village in the present days with flashbacks to the early 1980s, Kassandra immerses audiences in a world where ancient beliefs, local mythology and the harsh realities collide. Blending ethno-horror with psychological drama, the film draws on the region’s distinctive cultural traditions to create an atmospheric and unsettling story.
The film’s Oscar selection comes as international interest in distinctive genre cinema and stories from Central Asia continues to grow, positioning Kassandra as a strong discovery title for European buyers.

“Kassandra is exactly the kind of bold, culturally specific film that we believe can travel internationally,” says Maria Kivinen, Director of TV and Film Sales, Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Norse Key Studios. “It has a very strong visual identity and atmosphere, while the story speaks to universal themes of fear, belief and the tension between tradition and a changing world."
