COL Group Launches COL AI Studios to Expand Global IP Development Ecosystem
COL Group has launched COL AI Studios, a new entertainment division designed to develop and scale IP across AI-powered animation, short-form and long-form series, branded entertainment and live action. The new studio expands COL Group’s international distribution ecosystem, which has grown from more than 1,000 titles to a catalogue of over 5,000 live-action titles from the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia and China.

Rather than positioning artificial intelligence as an end product, COL AI Studios will use AI alongside traditional creative and production methods to test concepts, evaluate audience response and develop existing IP before committing to larger-scale productions. The company says its approach will focus on storytelling, production quality and long-term franchise potential.

The operation is supported by a network of more than 500 writers, directors, producers, editors, artists and specialists across Los Angeles, China and Southeast Asia. COL’s existing studio capabilities have already delivered more than 300 AI productions.

The studio will offer partners a development path spanning licensing and localisation, animation, AI-powered production, branded entertainment and potentially premium live action. It is also expanding into branded AI entertainment for commercial partners.

Among its early projects, Love Missions Across the Galaxy has developed into a three-season franchise, with versions localised into more than ten languages and number-one rankings across five international language markets. COL also confirmed that several AI-native titles are now moving into live-action development.

“AI is ultimately another way of delivering a story,” said Timothy Oh, General Manager, COL Group International. He stressed that while the technology can help creators and platforms assess the potential of a concept before investing in live action, storytelling, creative direction and responsible use of AI remain central to the process.

Ray Tong, CEO of COL Group
, added that AI-powered content is increasingly becoming part of mainstream storytelling in China and that the company now intends to bring that experience to international platforms and brands, while taking into account different levels of acceptance across individual markets.

With the launch of COL AI Studios, COL Group is extending its business beyond the distribution of finished titles, offering partners additional ways to test, adapt and develop IP before moving into larger-scale production.
