CIIF Market Opens International Call for Projects for Its 2026 Edition

CIIF Market Opens International Call for Projects for Its 2026 Edition
The Canary Islands International Film Market (CIIF Market) has launched the international call for projects for its 22nd edition, set to take place October 26–30, 2026, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The event is inviting producers from around the world to submit projects in development seeking financing, strategic partners and international co-production opportunities. Applications are open until September 6, 2026 for fiction and documentary feature films, TV series, miniseries and docuseries. The market will also accept transmedia, crossmedia and multiplatform projects whose primary foundation is a cinematic work.

This year's edition will select at least 12 projects for its National and International section, along with five Canary Islands projects for the Focus Canarias strand. Selected participants will benefit from a tailored agenda of one-to-one meetings, pitching sessions, networking events and introductions to potential creative and financial partners.
Projects submitted in either Spanish or English will be evaluated based on artistic and narrative quality, international market potential, the experience of the creative and production teams, and the viability of their financing plans. The selection committee will also consider innovation in format and distribution models, as well as producers' previous experience in international co-productions. Eligible projects must be in development, present their budgets in euros, demonstrate that at least 20% of financing has already been secured, and still be actively seeking additional funding.

Awards Supporting International Development
Selected projects will compete for several industry awards designed to accelerate their development and international visibility. Among them are the CIIF Market Santa Cruz de Tenerife Award, worth €3,000 for the best overall project, the Cabildo de Tenerife Award for the best Canary Islands project, the Music Library & SFX Award, which grants professional music licenses to one European and one Latin American project, and the MAFIZ Award, offering participation in the industry section of the 2027 Málaga Film Festival for the European and Latin American projects with the strongest co-production potential.
Additional prizes include the Blurr Stories Award, providing post-production and delivery services, the Térrea Award, focused on sustainability strategies and emission reduction, and the Vector de Ideas Award, which includes a recording session with a solo musician and a complimentary music license, alongside further mentoring opportunities and special industry recognitions.

Organized by Festeam, Comunicación y Eventos, with the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Islands Film, PROEXCA, the Tenerife Film Commission, the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster, Macaronesia Films and other partners, CIIF Market has established itself over more than two decades as one of the Canary Islands' leading meeting points for producers, distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms, sales agents, investors and film funds from Europe and Latin America.
