The Italian Global Series is preparing to launch its second edition, taking place from July 3 to 11 between Rimini and Riccione, with a special celebration dedicated to one of the most iconic and influential franchises in the history of television and cinema: Star Trek.
Created by Gene Roddenberry, Star Trek has become a global cultural phenomenon, shaping the language of science fiction and inspiring generations of viewers, creators and industry professionals. To mark the franchise’s 60th anniversary, the festival will host a major event entirely devoted to the universe that has redefined the relationship between television storytelling, technological imagination and social vision.
The celebration will begin on Tuesday, July 7, with a special conversation between producer David W. Zucker, whose credits include The Good Wife, The Terror and Dope Thief, and Nicholas Meyer, the acclaimed writer and director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and co-writer of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Their discussion will explore the evolution of television storytelling, production models and world-building, while also reflecting on the long-lasting cultural impact of Star Trek across different generations and media landscapes.
The following day, Wednesday, July 8, the Italian Global Series will host the Italian premiere of the first episode of the fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, ahead of its July 23 debut on Paramount+. The screening will be attended by series stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Celia Rose Gooding, alongside franchise icons Jeri Ryan, known for her roles in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard, and Nicholas Meyer. The event will be moderated by Emanuele Vietina, Director of Lucca Comics & Games.
In the fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, led by Captain Christopher Pike, continues its journey through the galaxy, embarking on new thrilling and suspense-filled adventures. As they travel to unexplored worlds, the characters will confront both inner demons and external threats, encountering unexpected reunions, new alliances and terrifying alien forces. At the heart of the series remains the optimistic spirit that has always defined Star Trek: the pursuit of a brighter, more hopeful future.
