Netflix has started production on Criminopatía, a new documentary series hosted by Clara Tiscar that expands the universe of one of Spain’s most prominent true crime voices and podcasters. The project, now in production, goes beyond traditional crime storytelling to examine violence, justice and human behaviour from a social and psychological perspective. The series builds on the success of Criminopatía as a major Spanish-language true crime phenomenon, which has accumulated close to 100 million total listens and more than two million monthly plays across platforms.
In the series, Tiscar leads an in-depth exploration of real-life cases through a documentary lens, combining extensive research with a strong visual approach. Each episode focuses not only on the events themselves but also on the social and psychological context surrounding both victims and perpetrators. The series is produced by You First Originals, directed by Joanna Pardos, and created by Joanna Pardos, Luis Calvo and Javier Martínez. It strengthens Netflix’s commitment to the true crime genre and adds an established brand with a large and engaged audience to its slate.
The series aims to evolve the true crime genre into a more immersive, anthropological approach, focusing not only on what happened but also on how and why it happened. It examines patterns, decisions and dynamics surrounding each case, often involving perpetrators who blend into everyday society. Using exclusive testimonies, access to key figures and a highly immersive narrative style, Criminopatía reconstructs each case and places viewers at the centre of the story. With a cinematic visual approach, the series explores how violence disrupts communities and leaves a permanent mark long after legal proceedings conclude.
