Formatbiz Lands in Asia for the First Time at Busan Content Market 2026
For the first time, Formatbiz has decided to take part in the Busan Content Market, marking an important new step in its international coverage of the global content industry.
BCM 2026 is taking place in Busan, South Korea, from June 10 to June 11 at BEXCO, one of the country’s leading exhibition and convention venues. The market opened with a rich and dynamic first day, confirming Busan’s growing role as a strategic hub for Asian and international content.

The opening day featured a packed programme of industry events, including the official Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception, as well as key business activities within the BCM Market and BCM Funding sections. Among the main appointments were BIZ Matching sessions, BCM Global Pitching, and the MOU Signing Ceremony for Investment, designed to support new partnerships and financing opportunities.

Networking also played a central role throughout the day, with several initiatives dedicated to strengthening relations between buyers, sellers, producers and platforms. These included Onboard Networking, the Buyer Seller Luncheon and BCM Night, offering professionals multiple opportunities to meet and explore new collaborations.

Alongside the market and conference programme, BCM 2026 also hosted a series of B2C and special events, including the Good Influencer Awards, the BCM OTT Series Awards, CANNESERIES X BUSAN and the Asia Short-Form Drama Awards, reflecting the increasingly diversified landscape of the content business.

One of the strongest impressions from the first day was the powerful presence of Korean drama producers and broadcasters. Major companies and groups such as CJ ENM, SBS, SLL, KBS and MBC are attending the market, confirming the international strength of K-drama and Korea’s ability to continue generating stories with strong global appeal.

The Chinese pavilion also attracted considerable attention, with a very active and crowded presence. Many companies are showcasing projects and technologies linked to the rapid expansion of short-form drama, one of the fastest-growing trends in the Asian audiovisual industry. At the same time, several exhibitors are presenting AI-based applications dedicated to content creation, production and distribution, underlining how artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly central to the future of the sector.
