Acorn TV has renewed Dynamic Television’s You’re Killing Me for a second season following a standout performance that positioned the series as the platform’s strongest launch to date in both subscriber acquisition and viewership. The renewal comes as Season 1 continues its rollout, with new episodes released weekly ahead of its finale on June 22. Since premiering on May 18, the six-part murder mystery has become a key driver for Acorn TV, topping previous launches on the platform. Set in the fictional Maine town of Founder’s Cove, Season 2 will maintain the same setting and format, consisting of six hour-long episodes. Production is set to begin later this year.
You’re Killing Me, which stars and is executive produced by Shields alongside Williamson (Sullivan’s Crossing) and Tom Cavanagh (The Flash, Ed), follows bestselling author Allie, who teams up with aspiring writer and podcaster Andi to investigate a friend’s murder. Cavanagh plays Jack, a former city detective adjusting to life in a small coastal town. The series is created by Robin Bernheim, whose credits include When Calls the Heart, Mystery 101, and Netflix’s Princess Switch trilogy and Mother of the Bride, marking another collaboration with Shields.
Shields said: “I am crazy happy we get to do a second season of You’re Killing Me… I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with the talented Robin Bernheim and having the opportunity to act opposite Amalia Williamson and Tom Cavanagh has been a dream. Thank you to all the people at Acorn TV and the whole marketing and creative teams for helping shepherd this show to where it is today. I promise we will continue to deliver the show you all fell in love with… even if it Kills Me.”
The series is produced as a co-production between Shaftesbury and Topsail Entertainment. Executive producers include Bernheim and Shields, Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Michael Volpe for Topsail, and Dan March for Dynamic Television. AMC Studios and Dynamic Television handle worldwide distribution rights outside Canada.
