Federation Kids & Family Secures Gangnam Project Sales Across Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific
Federation Kids & Family has secured a wave of international deals for its K-pop-inspired tween dramedy Gangnam Project, as global demand for the series continues to build.
Netflix acquired season one for multiple territories worldwide, launching the series on January 30, 2026, while Globo has also picked up the first season in Brazil.
Season two has been snapped up by Super RTL across Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, alongside ABC in Australia and NRK in Norway, following the strong performance of the debut season. Both seasons have additionally been acquired by Dreamia (Portugal), RTS (Switzerland) and EITB (Basque Country, Spain).

Since its initial launch on CBC Gem in Canada and CBBC in the UK, the series has continued to attract international buyers. France TV, YLE, Radio-Canada and TFO have all acquired both seasons, while TV3 Group has taken season one in the Baltics. Now spanning two seasons and a total of 20 half-hour episodes, Gangnam Project is co-commissioned by CBC Kids and CBBC. The series is produced by Pillango Productions and Aircraft Pictures, with financial backing from the Shaw Rocket Fund and the Canada Media Fund. Creator Sarah Haasz serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Aircraft Pictures’ Anthony Leo and Andrew Rosen.

“As the K-pop phenomenon continues to resonate globally, we’re delighted to bring this standout series to international buyers at a time when demand is accelerating,” said Monica Levy, Co-Chief of Distribution at Federation Kids & Family. “It’s particularly encouraging to see partners committing to a second season so quickly after the first.”

Inspired by Haasz’s own experience as a first-generation Korean-Canadian, the coming-of-age story follows Hannah Shin (Julia Kim Caldwell), a determined teen who travels to South Korea to work as an English tutor at an elite K-pop training school. What begins as a summer job quickly evolves into a deeper journey of self-discovery, as Hannah navigates the pressures of the K-pop world, uncovers unexpected opportunities, and learns more about her family’s past — including a surprising connection to the industry.
