Sky Italia has scored an impressive launch with its new legal drama Avvocato Ligas starring Luca Argentero, confirming the continued appeal of high-end local scripted productions on the platform.

The first two episodes of the series broadcast on Monday, March 2 and 9,  have so far accumulated an average audience of nearly one million viewers — 971,500 to be precise — with 1,020,000 viewers for the premiere episode and 923,000 for the second episode. These figures place the show as the fourth-best debut for a Sky original title since 2021, underlining the strong performance of the drama within the network’s recent slate.
Equally remarkable is the viewer retention rate, which stands at an exceptional 73%, the second-highest retention for a Sky original series, surpassed only by the final season of Gomorra – La serie, one of the broadcaster’s most successful productions.

The series is based on the novel Un caso complicato per l’avvocato Ligas. Perdenti by journalist and writer Gianluca Ferraris, published by Corbaccio and available in bookstores from 3 March. The adaptation brings Ferraris’ legal thriller to television through a six-episode narrative centred on lawyer Ligas, a complex protagonist navigating the ambiguities of the Italian justice system.
The project is produced by Sky Studios and Fabula Pictures and directed by Fabio Paladini. The writing team includes Federico Baccomo, Jean Ludwigg, Leonardo Valenti, Matteo Bozzi, Camilla Buizza and Francesco Tosco, combining experienced screenwriters from the Italian drama industry.

Alongside Argentero in the lead role, the series features Marina Occhionero as Marta Carati, Ligas’ determined trainee lawyer, and Barbara Chichiarelli as Annamaria Pastori, the prosecutor who often finds herself confronting Ligas in court.
The ensemble cast also includes Gaia Messerklinger as Patrizia, Ligas’ ex-wife, and Flavio Furno as Paolo, his closest friend and confidant.
