France tv distribution has launched the international sales of "The Wild Between Us" (original title: 'On était des loups'), the latest feature film from director François Busnel, ahead of its market debut at the European Film Market (EFM), running February 12–18, 2026, in Berlin.
The film stars Andreas Pietschmann alongside César Richier Le Moan, Marie-Sophie Ferdane, Denis O'Hare and Genc Jakupi, and is being handled worldwide by France tv distribution. Produced by Windy Production and Rosebud Films, the title will be released theatrically in France by Nour Films.
Based on Sandrine Collette’s novel On était des loups, the film is positioned as an intimate, character-driven drama set against a raw wilderness backdrop. The story follows Liam, who lives isolated in the mountains with his wife Ava and their young son Aru. After discovering his wife’s body near their home and finding signs of a bear attack, Liam sets out on a perilous journey on horseback with his son, determined to find a safer future beyond the unforgiving landscape they inhabit.
Blending survival drama with an exploration of grief and parenthood, The Wild Between Us examines the instinct to protect and the possibility of rebirth, framed by a setting that is both majestic and threatening.
Alexandre René (VP International Cinema Sales at France tv distribution) and Julia Schulte (SVP International Sales at France tv distribution) commented: “We are proud to present 'The Wild Between Us' to international buyers at EFM. Based on the novel 'On était des loups', the film is an intimate journey through the wide open spaces, where a fractured father-son bond is transformed by survival and grief. Andreas Pietschmann, recently seen in Nuremberg, delivers a powerful and intense performance as the father.”
