Maarten Meijs Takes the Helm as Talpa Unifies Group-Wide Leadership
Talpa Studios and Talpa Network are sharpening their strategic focus with the introduction of a new group-wide management structure, effective March 2, 2026. While both companies will continue to operate independently, the move establishes a single management board to drive alignment, innovation and efficiency across the entire content value chain.

As part of this next phase, Maarten Meijs has been appointed to lead the group-wide management board, taking responsibility for strategy and long-term development across both Talpa Studios and Talpa Network. Joost Brakel will step down as CEO of Talpa Network following a transition period.

The new group-wide management board is led by Maarten Meijs as CEO, working alongside Guy Vossen (CFO), Barry Masclee (COO) and Carlijn Oosterik (CHRO). Commenting on the new structure, Meijs said: “Talpa Studios and Talpa Network combine strong local media brands, exceptional creative talent and proven international format expertise. By aligning our leadership at group level, we build on a strong foundation while creating greater clarity and focus - fully respecting the independence of our individual companies. This allows us to move faster, make bolder choices and further strengthen our creative and international impact. The Netherlands remains a powerful springboard for new ideas, where great ideas can evolve into globally successful formats.”

Talpa Network remains one of the Netherlands’ leading media groups, with operations spanning television, radio, digital platforms and production. Its portfolio includes major national TV channels such as SBS6, NET5 and Veronica, AVOD platform KIJK, leading radio brands and a strong production and distribution infrastructure. Together, these assets provide daily audience reach at scale and a robust creative environment for launching new content.

Under the refined structure, Talpa Studios and Talpa Network retain their own management teams and creative autonomy. The introduction of group-wide leadership is designed to deliver clearer strategic direction and faster decision-making, strengthening the content journey from development and launch through to distribution and international expansion. Talpa Studios will also continue to collaborate closely with creative and strategic partners to ensure ideas combine local relevance with global potential.

The updated strategy places video and audio content, format creation and international scalability at its core. The Netherlands continues to be recognised as one of the world’s most innovative format markets, and Talpa Studios has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to turn local ideas into international successes.

Global hit "The Floor", now sold to more than 30 territories, has cemented Talpa Studios’ international credentials. Other formats including "The Quiz With Balls", "The Tribute: Battle of the Bands" and "Caught In The Middle" all originated on SBS6 in the Netherlands before travelling internationally, reinforcing the country’s reputation for bold, exportable ideas. Most recently, "Caught In The Middle" secured its first international commission even ahead of its Dutch premiere, highlighting the speed at which Talpa formats can scale globally. The company continues to develop and produce formats for a wide range of broadcasters and streamers, both within and beyond Talpa Network.
