At this year’s Realscreen Summit in Miami, just ahead of Natpe Global, Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency, took the stage to unveil the company’s latest original format: The Mashup. The world premiere screening was held on Tuesday, February 3, in the Chopin Room, drawing attention from international industry players.
The Mashup is a fresh take on the music competition genre. In each episode, musical duos are challenged to merge two contrasting songs — often from different genres, decades, or cultural backgrounds — into one cohesive and compelling live performance. A “genre wheel” adds a twist, assigning unexpected combinations that test the performers’ adaptability and creativity.
The format features a visually dynamic stage that responds in real time to the musical fusion, enhancing the viewer experience and underlining whether the blend truly works. The competition culminates in a solo showdown, where each finalist performs alongside a celebrity musical partner in pursuit of the top prize.
“This is the project I have believed in the most since the day I founded the company,” said Pinto. “The TV industry has been searching for a strong, fresh music talent format for some time, and I believe the timing is right. Our first goal is to produce The Mashup in the U.S. with a major studio and a leading broadcaster, followed by international expansion — starting with Europe.”
Confident in the format’s global potential, Pinto added: “I truly believe this show can become a major international franchise. Whoever joins early will benefit greatly. The Mashup is our masterpiece.”
