RTVE Shines at Content Americas with a Versatile Lineup Spanning Period Drama, Comedy, Factual Entertainment and High-End Documentaries
RTVE returns to Miami to present its latest fiction, factual and documentary productions at Content Americas (January 19-22, 2026), now firmly established as a key marketplace for content sales and international partnerships, with a strong focus on Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.
Among the highlights of RTVE’s international lineup are the scripted series Barrio Esperanza and Sin Gluten, the factual format Dra. Fabiola Jones, and the documentary series Spain: The 20th Century in Color and This Is Spain (Esto es España). Also RTVE will join the session organized by ICEX "Unveiling Spain's most anticipated contet" on January 21 in the main ballroom.

In its most recent edition, Content Americas brought together more than 2,300 delegates and over 1,000 buyers, confirming its role as a strategic meeting point for streamers, broadcasters, major studios and independent producers.

One of RTVE’s flagship titles at the market is Barrio Esperanza, created by Iván Escobar and Antonio Sánchez Olivas and set primarily in a public primary school. Produced in collaboration with Globomedia (part of THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO), the series is a socially driven comedy with sharp humor and a strong ensemble cast led by Mariona Terés.
With an upbeat tone rooted in camaraderie and resilience, Barrio Esperanza celebrates public education and the power of second chances. The story follows Esperanza, a woman whose troubled youth and poor life choices led her to prison. While serving her sentence, she studies to become a teacher and passes the competitive civil service exams. Now working as a primary school teacher, she soon realizes that what she learned in prison is often more useful than anything she studied for the exams.

Themes of reinvention and second chances also run through Sin Gluten, a comedy starring Diego Martín. The series centers on Ricardo, a once-celebrated chef whose career collapses, forcing him to reinvent himself as a teacher at a vocational center for people at risk of social exclusion. Through cooking classes, the characters discover not only culinary techniques but also the ingredients needed to rebuild their lives.

Adventure, adrenaline and wildlife conservation are at the heart of Dra. Fabiola Jones, a factual format set against the backdrop of the African savannah. Told from the perspective of a veterinarian specializing in wildlife, the series offers close encounters with elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, cheetahs and hyenas, combining spectacular storytelling with a deep respect for nature.

Spain: The 20th Century in Color offers viewers a striking new way to experience the country’s past. Using archival footage colorized and sound-designed for the first time, the series revisits Spanish history from the 1930s to the late 1970s, blending major historical events with everyday life and the birth of cinema in Spain.

Meanwhile, This Is Spain, presented and directed by travel creator Enrique Alex, invites audiences to rediscover the country through the eyes of those who live in its lesser-known regions—people committed to preserving local identity, innovating without losing their roots, and building a more sustainable future.

RTVE’s presence at Content Americas also underscores the strength of its international distribution portfolio. Its linear international channels—including the generalist TVE, the 24 Horas news channel, fiction-focused Star TVE and children’s channel Clan—continue to grow their global subscriber base. Clan now reaches millions of households across 17 countries in the Americas, including the United States.

In addition, RTVE offers exclusive access to its SVOD platform RTVE Play +, available across the Americas (including the U.S. and Canada), Asia and Oceania (Japan, India, Hong Kong, South Korea and Australia), as well as throughout Europe, via monthly or annual subscription.
