Italian television presenter Massimiliano Ossini returns to prime time with a brand-new, itinerant factual series titled La città ideale, airing from Saturday 27 December at 21:30. The launch coincides with another important on-air commitment for Ossini: Linea Bianca Olympia, which also premieres the same day and will run Monday to Friday on Rai 1.
With La città ideale, Rai expands its slate of knowledge-driven programming by introducing an ambitious studio-based format enriched by external reports and authoritative voices. The series sets out to explore what makes a city truly “ideal” in the 21st century, addressing key pillars of contemporary urban life: sustainability, safety, healthcare, the third sector, as well as cinema and culture.
Each episode combines in-depth storytelling with contributions from academics, professors and leading science communicators. Among the high-profile guests, renowned populariser Alberto Angela offers contextual analysis and commentary, helping viewers interpret complex themes through an accessible and engaging narrative lens.
The journey begins in Singapore, widely recognised as the quintessential “Garden City”. Ossini guides audiences through a metropolis where ultra-high-density urban development coexists with an ambitious ecological vision. From skyscrapers wrapped in vertical forests to the iconic, technology-driven “supertrees” of Gardens by the Bay, the episode reveals how Singapore has placed environmental sustainability at the very core of its urban planning strategy.
Linea Bianca Olympia, is edicated to Winter Olympics host locations from Cortina d'ampezzo to all the towns interested in the games.
