Banijay Entertainment has confirmed a second season of Let’s Play Ball, the wildly entertaining physical comedy format co-developed by EndemolShine Nederland, Talpa Studios, and Signal.Stream for Dutch broadcaster SBS6.
After a breakout summer debut, Let’s Play Ball has quickly become one of the Netherlands’ most talked-about new formats. Co-produced by EndemolShine Nederland and Signal.Stream, the show became SBS6’s top-performing new launch of the year among viewers aged 25–44. Originally piloted on YouTube by StukTV, where it garnered over 1.2 million views, the digital-first hit has transitioned into a flagship linear format for Banijay and will headline the company’s slate at MIPCOM 2025.
International interest is already building, with Banijay UK labels Zeppotron and Initial – the producers behind Last One Laughing UK – now co-developing an English-language version of the format.
James Townley, Chief Content Officer, Development, Banijay Entertainment, commented:
“Let’s Play Ball is gaining real momentum — it’s become the surprise comedy sensation of the Dutch summer. With a second series underway and an English-language version in development with the teams behind Last One Laughing UK, we believe this will be one of the most buzzed-about titles on the Croisette this MIP. Its evolution from creator-led YouTube pilot to mainstream broadcast success is a testament to the format’s adaptability and universal appeal.”
Sil Geurtsen, Head of Development, EndemolShine Nederland, added:
“The show’s signature giant balls and deceptively simple mechanics give Let’s Play Ball an identity like no other. This recommission is a testament to our creative collaboration with Signal.Stream and Talpa Studios. Together, we’ve crafted a format that blends comedy, competition and chaos — precisely the kind of entertainment that stands out both in the Dutch market and abroad.”
Let’s Play Ball is a physical game show where contestants — in celebrity-led teams — must race across varied terrains while rolling an enormous ball. Each episode features new landscapes, from tight urban streets to rivers and countryside meadows, turning a seemingly simple challenge into a chaotic, comedic spectacle.
Contestants must overcome surprise twists and increasingly difficult environments, demanding strategic thinking, teamwork and sheer determination. With celebrity captains joined by friends or family, the show blends humor and action to deliver dynamic, family-friendly entertainment.
