Italian actor Dario Aita has been cast to portray the legendary singer-songwriter Franco Battiato in the upcoming Rai Fiction TV movie Franco – Il lungo viaggio (Franco – The Long Journey), which is set to begin filming in mid-October. The announcement was made as an exclusive preview during the Italian Global Series Festival, an event organized by APA – Italian Audiovisual Producers Association and AGIS, with the support of Italy’s Ministry of Culture and SIAE (the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers).

The TV movie is a co-production between Rai Fiction and Casta Diva, written by Monica Rametta and directed by Renato De Maria. The project is conceived as a heartfelt and profound tribute to one of the most beloved and influential figures in Italian music.The film has been in active development for the past two months, with particular attention devoted to the selection of the soundtrack. A dedicated team of experts is working to carefully curate the songs, aiming not only to recreate Battiato’s unique voice but, above all, to capture his soul and the deep philosophical essence that characterized his artistic journey.

Franco – Il lungo viaggio promises to be an evocative portrait of the Sicilian artist, celebrating his extraordinary career and the timeless impact of his music.
